Another typical misleading news. I don't know why they keep doing these. Apparently, it belongs to a fight between terrorists and civilians, instead of a battle between Hans and Uighurs, who both suffered from the incident. However, the mass press in western world are provoking and reinforcing the antagonism between them. What's the purpose of doing these?For example, all news mentioned the brawl that previously occurred in Guangdong province which caused 2 Uighurs to die . But they never explain (1) why those Uighurs went there and (2) what resulted in and triggered this tragedy at the beginning.
The fact (1) is those Uighurs who were advocated by the government were trying to be workers. You guys just don't understand what a meaningful progress it is. Let me introduce the necessary backdrop to understand that situation.
In history, Uighurs used to be nomad and latter became farmers when they settled down. In agricultural society, they were doing good and living a decent life. But in recent years, they were inevitably abandoned by rapid industrialization of China, as well as other agricultural population including Han countrymen, who were force to leave their land and went into factories in the cities. Same thing which happened to Urumqi, one of the biggest cities of northwestern, now is accused as so-called immigration or invasion into Xinjiang province. Actually, this spring tide of immigration is benefiting and accelerating the prosperity of the industry and business. Xinjiang became a heaven for the adventurers and offered equal opportunities for anybody of any ethnic who had an ability to catch them.
Rabiya Kadir , a mother of 11 children in birth-controlled China, who previously confessed to believe in the communist party and now turns to act as a fighter of freedom, was one of lucky busters who had caught the opportunity and become a billionaire. Though she can be an example of an Uighur making good winning, I don't really care about the rich like her who has token advantages. I would rather concern the poor people who have being lost their advantages, floundering at the bottom of society, spreading all over the streets of the city, including Han and Uighurs. Most victims in this incident belong to them, you see.
Uighurs who lived far away from the Han community flooded into cities either but seldom chose to be workers. The policy made by government actually inclines to them. Especially in public area and in national business there are always some quota for them. You can blame this policy as at best a kind of decoration. Anyway, according to a local speaking, those Uighur workers or officers in the quota usually work so indolently that co-workers have already got used to their absence. That is not the main reason why Uighurs are difficult to find a job. Partly due to unwilling to speak Mandarin, they are hardly employed by the private entrepreneurs. But the most important reason is some of Uighurs have successfully destroyed their reputation as a whole ethnicity.
The decent group of Uighurs who swarmed into the cities preferred instead to do small business like selling fruits or barbecues. Some diligent people have set up their own restaurants throughout the country, which are very welcoming in urban people. However, some of Uighurs in cities have fallen into thieves, which they are not supposed to be because this disrepute occupation is forbidden by their religion. Unfortunately, they either have set up their stealing business throughout the country, which are scaring the passerby in every bigger city. Always taking daggers, most of them will easily turn to rob in violence when the stealing is failed. Getting caught by cops, they don't worry . Cops are often confused by their language, and thieves know that they will be free soon, saved by a more merciful law for the minority.
Speaking this stupid law, which would rather be called a inclined policy, named "liang shao yi kuan " , it specially aims at the crime committed by the minority. It means " less arrestment, less condemnation, merciful penalty" , widely criticized as a crime-making machine, even by Uighur intellectuals. Almost all bigger cities take pain of the groups of Uighur thieves, usually made up of some teenagers, fierce and cruel when they rob and harm innocent people. Seeing their young but numb faces in police department, I felt sad. How come a well-known friendly and diligent ethnicity utterly degenerates like this? That expression was deplored by Ilham Tohti, a Uighur intellectual who has been detained by the authority. Now more than 100 Chinese writers and intellectuals are calling for the release.
Whatever happens, I wanna tell those young thieves, you guys still have choices. If you have found 1000 excuses to do that, you definitely can find 1001 reasons not to do that. Anyway, the fear and discrimination between Han and Uighur have existent in people's mind, not in public policy or treatment. The situation of whole Uighurs today are admittedly caused by some rulings of the authority, but the Uighurs themselves should bravely take the main responsibility. Unequal or unjust treatments in China diffuse across the geographical and ethnical areas. All ethnicities including Han, Uighurs, Tablets actually are experiencing the same things. Struggling with and standing by Han, instead of separating from or killing them, is the only freeway to get a huge achievement.
In this complicated background, several hundreds of Uighurs young people left far away from their home and went into the factory located in Guangdong, eastern of China. Actually, the local government in Xinjiang province arranged this labor contract. In my opinion, it symbolizes a huge step to begin. Yes, work is hard and pay is poor. But it is a decent job which millions of Han workers are also enduring. Unfortunately, a nice beginning was screwed up rather by the fear and bias rooted in people's mind than by "a rumor", which leads to the fact (2).
The fact (2) is that the tragedy of 2 Uighurs death resulted from a suspicion of raping Han female workers. Did it truly happen or not? I am not sure. The authority asserts now it is totally " a rumor" that 6 Unighurs raped 2 Han girls and the police released the suspects immediately. Han workers easily were convinced and furious by this information. What a familiar story it is! They rushed into Uighur dorm and killed 2. When the tragedy happened, the stupid authority do what they usually do, blocking the news and saying something ambiguous. It resulted in another rumor used by terrorists or mobs and evolved that there were 400 Uighural workers killed in Guangdong. Finally, 186 innocent civilians died.
Why I elaborate the trigger of the incident is because I' gonna awake these newspaper guys. If they are going to provoke and deepen the fear and bias between groups, what terrible consequence it can cause. However, that is what the news in US is doing. If you are destroying China or happy to see Chinese people kill each other, congratulation, you guys are doing good job!
Considering my poor English, I was not supposed to write this stuff, but I can not help when you guys distorted the truth. This issue is presumptuously assumed and labeled " Han vs. Uighurs": Han is invading Uighurs; Han is taking advantages of Uighurs; Han is bullying Uighurs; Han is baring the independency of Uighurs; Han is decimating Uighurs. Totally bull shit! I didn't see Han is killing Uighurs or vice versa. Instead I saw a poor group killed another poor group. As an ex-journalist in China, I thought even most retarded journalist dared not to be lazy to walk a further step, probing and analyzing the profound reason behind it.
I used to and still be admiring the free speech in USA. Actually I am here preparing into a higher degree of journalism despite of my bad English. After all, I cherish and worship the spirit of freedom. However, I was soon disappointed by news here. About Chinese issues, I don't believe the news from official agency in China because they are not believable. Now I can not believe the news from the USA because your journalists or editors basically don't get it and make a lot hilarious stupid mistakes. I am worrying about the education or threshold of journalists. I told my wife that in China I suffered censorship but in the USA I suffered ignorance. Surprisingly, you guys never realize and take the responsibility of it when your news are disporting and worsening the situation.
I'm gonna warn those who are loftily singing songs like freedom or independency or equality. Remember, these things corrupt in abstract concepts and live in specific events. Remember, Chinese have bled a lot and are still bleeding for these things. Remember, how many crimes have been committed in the name of these noble things.
I'm also gonna warn those who are effortlessly blaming the communism and labeling all Chinese as brain-washed people. Remember, we, but not you guys, are the fighters for freedom because we are still taking this pain. Remember, we have to assimilate the long long history of the wisdom , as well as of the authoritarian . Remember, this pain came from the western world also in the name of noble things. And remember, nothing can represent the individuals of Chinese people today.
I'm not gonna warn but laugh those are credulously indoctrinated that Uighurs are the native people and Han are the invaders. And those who imagine Han have kept bullying the minorities, go home and check your high school books. I'm gonna tell you in China all ethnicities are natives, not like in the USA. My continent is too old to understand with your tiny brain.
